Round 5, Pick 144 – Clayton Geathers – S – UCF – 6’2” 218 lbs.

This year’s draft is rather light with safeties so it would make more sense for the Giants to try to find a value pick in the later rounds then to reach in the earlier rounds. This is that late value pick.

Geathers has the size and speed of a strong safety as he is more of a run supporter then coverage man. He plays very physical and likes to make the big hits.

He has proven to be durable, he finished his career tying a school record with 53 games played overall and he is third in  school history with 383 tackles. He was named to the All-American Athletic Conference First Team in 2014.
