Washington Redskins Draft Grade: D

The Redskins drafted the 17th best player on my big board with the 5th overall pick. This was a reach. The Redskins may have gotten a first round talent that will help them, but they passed up on the best overall player. Leonard Williams was sitting there and they took Scherff. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Kevin White was also on the board and I had him as my third best player available. With the 5th overall pick the Redskins took an offensive tackle that most people see as an offensive guard. Scherff struggles with speed off the edge, he will go through some growing pains if you start him at left tackle or for that matter right tackle.

Kevin White or Leonard Williams would have made a huge impact right away and were better overall players than Scherff. The Redskins got the apple of their eye. To be fair the team drafted a good player but it wasn’t a justifiable decision.
