When asked about the difference between Miami and New York newly minted 1st-round draft pick Ereck Flowers said, “a lot more traffic.” Receiving a few laughs from the New York media. Flowers, 21, didn’t have much to say at his first presser with the New York Giants, but who really cares to be honest? He’s an offensive lineman. Can he hit people? Can he protect the quarterback? That’s all people should really worry about.
He also received a call from quarterback Eli Manning shortly after he was drafted to welcome him to the team and give him a brief wrap-up of what the organization expects of him moving forward.

He also got a ton of text messages and tweets followed from other teammates as well throughout the last couple of days since getting his name called on draft day.
I even think at some point in this press conference reporters ran out of questions to ask considering the position Flower plays. I mean how many times can you ask about how well a guy could block?
Questions ranged from how well he enjoyed the New York Mets game he attended on Friday to if he had looked for a place to live yet. Although, it wasn’t a very wordy press conference it did provide some laughs based on the array of questions.
What will Flowers project with the New York Giants? In my opinion it all depends on Justin Pugh and what they want to do with him. If they feel Pugh will be fine at right tackle then I think Flowers slides into right guard, which I think he fits best. If they think Pugh is more effective playing guard then Flowers will kick it on the outside and play right tackle.
He’s surely an imposing young man -standing at 6’6″ and weighing in at 329 pounds- but some say he does have some work to do with his technique. Giants’ offensive line coach Pat Flaherty will certainly need to work out some kinks with Flowers, but the potential is there for him to be special in this league for a very long time.
You can watch his first presser with the team right here on Giants.com! Overall, I’m excited to see what he brings to the table!
