Round Five: DB Mykkele Thompson

Thompson is a very versatile player and he fills up multiple positions. He has experience playing cornerback, nickel, and safety. Thompson was a bit of a reach in round five, but he seems to have a lot of upside in Coughlin’s eyes.

Coughlin recently stated that Thompson would pair up very well with Collins. Putting two rookies paired together is bold, but has the potential to be very explosive.

Thompson is small in frame, but is a very tough player. He is a hard hitter and shows that he is a very dedicated player. The fact that he can be used all over the secondary is very important because depth is something the Giants really lacked.

Who knows, maybe we could even see Thompson throwing a touchdown pass. He was a former high school quarterback that was converted into a safety. Coughlin may need to take a page out of Bill Belichick’s playbook.
