3. We Should Have Big Expectations
At the end of the day, Flowers was a top ten pick and the Giants cannot afford to have anything other than sky high expectations. Flowers has the physical tool set, he has the football IQ, there is no reason he shouldn’t be a star in the National Football League and the Giants have to hold him to the promise of his potential.
I am all for patience. He may very well struggle in his rookie season and that’s okay. Remember Eli Manning’s first few games weren’t exactly a thing to behold. Patience is the key at first, but in a year or two Flowers must be one of the NFL’s best offensive tackles.
Flowers has the potential to be an all time great at the offensive tackle position. In a professional football world, where freak athletes are a dime a dozen, Flowers has rare talents and size. The Giants expectations for Flowers in his rookie year can be mild. Their expectations of Flowers down the road have to be higher than the Empire State Building.
