How Jay Ajayi fell to the 5th round is beyond me. Graded by many as a 2nd round talent, I guess the idea of a potential Eddie Lacy-type runner at the next level deterred teams from taking him? This doesn’t make any sense to me.
He’s an all-around back that can pass protect, catch the football, and be an every-down runner. All the desirable traits are there, but some say he does lack some instincts at the position, which could be the reason he fell so far.
Again, I’m all about adding depth, especially to a position that had been hindered by injury problems in the past. Overall, I feel like this would’ve been more of a value pick than anything else considering his skill set.
