Meet Cole Farrand:
Maryland linebacker Cole Farrand will have his shot to make the Giants team and if he does he will have to crack the lineup through special teams. Farrand tackled ball carriers 202 times in the past 2 seasons, including 118 tackles in his senior year. He had several monster games this season compiling 19 tackles versus Indiana, 18 against Michigan State and 17 while playing the National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes.
As a junior, Farrand was an honorable mention to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team and as a senior he was an All-Big Ten honorable-mention. The have 4 linebackers capable of starting and 2 more that will backup the starters and play special teams. Farrand has an uphill battle on his hands, but it was only back in 2011 when Tom Coughlin elected to keep two undrafted linebackers in Mark Herzlich and Spencer Paysinger.
This is an undervalued linebacker from Maryland that put up big time production as a linebacker. He made plays all over the field, and is an intriguing option for the Giants. Linebacker was a position the Giants probably should have addressed in the draft. Instead the Giants swoop up this interesting linebacker.
