7. Jeff Hostetler

Seven is a little high for a back up quarterback like Hostetler, but this backup wasn’t just another regular Joe. Hostetler is a huge part of Giants’ history and came up very clutch for the franchise on multiple occasions.

For years he served as the backup to Giants starting quarterback Phil Simms. Hostetler got his time to shine at the end of the Giants 1990 season and boy was it worth the wait for Giants’ fans.

Hostetler stepped in for the injured Simms and lead the Giants all the way through the playoffs to winning Super Bowl XXV.

That seems like a tall task for an ordinary backup, but Hostetler was just waiting in the wings. Hostetler famously beat Simms in a competition for the starting job that next year, but then got injured.
