4. Charlie Conerly

Conerly had a special kind of career with the Giants. Not only did he play his entire career with the team, but he lead them to four NFL championship games.

He won the 1956 NFL championship and was a two time Pro-Bowler as well.

Conerly’s number is retired by the Giants as a thank your for all his hard work with the team. Conerly was one of the greatest players of his time and in Giants’ history. He awarded the honor of NFL MVP by the Newspaper Enterprise Association.

Conerly played in what was called the “greatest game ever played,” the 1958 NFL championship game. Though the Giants lost to the Baltimore Colts, it was a truly historic game. It introduced us to sudden death overtime and kept fans on the edge of their seats. How could you not include his hame in the top five if he played in the greatest football game ever played?
