It’s going to be very interesting to see how the CFL star transitions into his rookie season in the NFL. In the CFL he was a total standout and ranked as one of the top offensive lineman. Unfortunately, the NFL is on a whole different level than the CFL.
Hopefully some of Jones’s talent can be used on the Giants’ offensive line. Current starting center Weston Richburg is good and Jones may be able to provide him with a lot of competition. It could become a bit of a training camp rivalry. Personally, I think Jones could be a major upgrade over Richburg.
Many NFL teams were in the race to sign Jones and the Giants luckily managed to get to him first. Even though it’s very hard to scout from the CFL, it has been done successfully before. Players like Warren Moon, Jeff Garcia, Cameron Wake and Joe Theisman all played in the CFL.
Offensive line is a lot different from quarterback, but the situation isn’t. Talent can be scouted from the CFL which means Jones could be a diamond in the rough. Hopefully the Giants offensive line will be a lot better than most think.
