The Giants had to pick up an extra tight end somewhere along the line so it’s no surprise it happened after rookie mini-camp. Illinois tight end LaCosse seemed to be the most impressive of the undrafted rookies.

Yes, the Giants do necessarily need a tight end at the moment. Larry Donnell is more than capable of being the starter. It can’t hurt to have two good tight ends though. Tight end double sets are becoming more popular among NFL teams.

LaCosse is long shot to make the final roster, but I think he has a lot of potential. The Giants have Daniel Fells and Adrian Robinson under contract at the moment. To me it seems like if another young candidate like LaCosse comes along and impresses, Robinson will be the first to lose his job.

Tight end depth is something the Giants could really use and LaCosse seems like an optimal choice to far. I’m confident he has the talents to be able to make some noise in training camp and earn his place on the final roster.
