Well, I can’t say I remember much from 1927 considering it was 68 years before my time, but this truly was a special year in New York Giants football.
The team had just been established in 1925 under the ownership of the Mara family and the inauguration of the league began only 7 years prior. Now, in 1927 a playoff system didn’t exist yet, so the team with the best record were crowned champions of the league. The 27′ Giants did just that with an 11-1-1 record.
This was the 1st-year in which the rich history of the New York Giants would start. This was the stepping stone for all the success that would lie ahead. What amazed me the most about that season was the amount of shutouts they posted. In 10 of their 11 wins they shutout their opponents, yes you heard that correctly. Simply astounding.
