Both teams hope to be much different teams in the upcoming season. The Giants and Falcons both have playoff aspirations. These are two teams who know what it feels like to be contenders, it hasn’t been too long since these were two of the best teams in the NFC. The Giants won it all in 2011. The Falcons were in the NFC Championship Game in 2012. The key to turning your franchise back into its winning ways is a quality offseason.
The Giants offseason was productive. They drafted two stars in Ereck Flowers and Landon Collins that will step up and start right away. The Giants also signed several key free agents that will help the team win. If it weren’t for the Will Beatty injury, which hurts the offensive line, this would have to be called a great offseason for the Giants. But how did the Falcons do this offseason?
CS: Did the Falcons fill their needs this offseason?
FB: It’s been as good an offseason as the Falcons could have hoped for. First of all adding the defensive-minded Dan Quinn as head coach, followed up with what looks like a home run of a draft, even though it’s too early to say that. Vic Beasley was tremendous value at No. 8, and he also filled the Falcons’ biggest need for a pass rusher. Jalen Collins will form a strong partnership with Desmond Trufant at corner. There are still question marks at left guard and free safety, but all-in-all it’s been a great offseason for the Dirty Birds.
