2. Adrian Robinson Vs. Matt LaCosse

Position: Second Or Third String Tight End

Well the so-called “Jason Pierre-Paul of tight ends” is in danger. I’m sure that we all remember when Jerry Reese first said those words and predicted Adrian Robinson would be great. That flew out the window pretty fast and Robinson’s job is finally in danger. How much longer could the team drag him on the roster for?

Enter Matt LaCosse, one of the undrafted free agents the Giants signed this offseason. LaCoose looks like an extremely promising player and it’s no secret that the Giants are looking for new tight ends. It’s one of the Giants’ weak areas on offense.

Daniel Fells is climbing the ladder in age and Robinson had more than enough tenure with the Giants to try to prove himself. Larry Donnell is without question the starter, but he remains to be very inconsistent. Fells will most likely stay to have a veteran presence in the tight end corps. That leaves Robinson and LaCosse to fight for a roster spot.

Though it is unlikely, LaCosse may beat out Robinson without an issue. Tom Coughlin raved about the young tight end and getting the head coach’s approval is always a good start. Unless Robinson puts on one hell of a show, he will be on his way out. Eli Manning needs reliable targets and tight ends are a huge part of the West coast offense. This battle is more important than most think.
