3. January 15th, 2012 vs Green Bay Packers
Final Score: 37-20
As we narrow down our list on Manning’s career, we hit the moment he defeated Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on the Frozen Tundra. Of course, winning any play-off game is a step in the right direction for your career, but Manning was lights out against Rodgers who was emerging as one of the best. Manning and Co. virtually shut them down in the NFC Divisional match-up.
Manning posted up a 114 passer rating, which was the second-best for him in the 2011 playoffs. Manning also threw for 330 yards and connected three times for touchdowns. He gave the Giants a boost after a 66 yard laser to Nicks that made the score 10-0. He would find Nicks in the end zone again for 37 yards right at the end of the first half to have a commanding 20-10 lead.
After Rodgers couldn’t find his way around the Giants’ defense, it was pretty much game over. Manning assured the victory after a four yard pass to receiver Mario Manningham to make it 37-20.
This 2011 was crucial for Manning and the Giants as they were on the way to the Super Bowl, these playoff games deserve to be on Manning’s list of best games.
