5. Jim Fassel

This may be confusing to some, but I think Jim Fassel fits perfectly at number 5. You cannot overlook the importance of Fassel. He got the Giants close to Super Bowl glory and he led some really good teams.

Fassel, coached the team for 7 years, which led to both a coach of the year award in 1997 and a trip to the Super Bowl following the 2000 season. He never won a championship or put together an era of dominance with Big Blue, but sometimes being consistently good needs to be applauded.

As an offensive minded head coach, Fassel resurrected a Giants offense that was pitiful for most of the 1990s. Putting together multiple draft classes that led to a long line of extremely productive players on that side of the football. Ranging from Tiki Barber to David Diehl to Jeremy Shockey, and oh yeah that David Tyree guy. Offense finally mattered in New York unlike it had in years past, thus making Fassel one of the more impactful coaches in team history.
