The Offensive Line:

Overview: The Giants have a lot of options on the offensive line, even after the Beatty injury. General manager Jerry Reese, obviously learned from last year’s lack of depth up front. At tackle the Giants have Flowers, Justin Pugh and Marshall Newhouse all as options. At the guard positions the Giants have Geoff Schwartz, Weston Richburg and John Jerry. The center position seems to be a battle between Richburg and Brett Jones, who comes from the CFL. The Giants also have their seventh round draft pick Bobby Hart who could work his way into the equation. The Giants have 8 bodies for 5 positions. The Giants do have Dallas Reynolds and Brandon Mosley if the worst comes to fruition. The question becomes how will these players perform in 2015?

Best Case Scenario: The best case scenario sees Flowers stepping up and starting strongly at the left tackle position. Justin Pugh stays at the right tackle position and has his best season as a Giant. At the end of the day if the tackle position is fine without Beatty, the injury isn’t a big deal. Flowers is the big wild card in this but if he does well in his rookie season, then the Giants offensive line could be very strong. It seems best that Jones wins the center job because Richburg has sky high potential as a guard. With Schwartz’s dominant run blocking the Giants could be a completely new team in 2015.

Worst Case Scenario: In the worst case scenario the Giants offensive line struggles mightily. The rawness of Flowers comes back to hurt the Giants. They have to put Flowers on the right side and move Pugh over to left tackle. In the worst case scenario Jones isn’t ready for the transition from the CFL to the NFL and remains a backup. John Jerry will struggle as a starting guard. Another injury on the offensive line could be devastating and players will have to play out of position if that happens. In the worst case scenario the offensive line is the biggest hindrance to the Giants success.
