1. He Is Only Going To Get Better

There were some ups and downs in the 2014 season but it is imperative to remember that he is only three years removed from coming from a small college football program and 2014 was his only season as a starting tight end. We have barely scraped the surface of Donnell’s potential. Not ever great player was amazing right away. Donnell showed flashes of brilliance last season, this season he could step it to the next level.

Donnell has the same build and thickness of Rob Gronkowski. I am not saying that Donnell is as good as Gronkowski but I am saying that he has the ability to be just as good as Gronkowski. Size alone doesn’t get the job done but size is a necessity. What makes Donnell such an intriguing player is that he is the perfect red zone threat. He can go up and get the football at its highest point. You can never have enough big bodied targets in the NFL and Manning will definitely lean on Donnell’s ability to score.

Donnell isn’t a Gronkowski or a Jimmy Graham type player. That doesn’t mean that he won’t become this type of player. Imagine how amazing it will be if Donnell does become an elite tight end. Imagine defenses trying to slow down Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle on the outside, Victor Cruz in the slot and a dominant Donnell. The sky is the limit for Donnell because he has what you cannot coach, size and natural athleticism.
