The man, the myth, the legend… Odell Beckham Jr. is a larger than life figure for the New York Giants. Beckham Jr. became a household name when he made a spectacular one handed catch against Brandon Carr of the Dallas Cowboys. Many have called it the best catch they’ve ever seen. At the end of the day it is just one highlight on Beckham Jr.’s impressive reel.
He was drafted twelfth overall by the Giants in the 2014 NFL Draft. Beckham Jr. was taken by general manager Jerry Reese despite there being higher team needs. It is a good thing that Reese made this decision though because Beckham Jr. was one of the few bright spots in the Giants 6-10 season. Beckham Jr. is one of the most complete players I have ever seen at the wide receiver position. You cannot overstate how great Beckham Jr. was in his rookie season. It has almost gotten to the point where everything sounds like hyperbole because no one can believe how great he was as a rookie.
I don’t think I have ever seen a Giants player that has gotten the instant buzz that he has received. Everybody wants to see the next amazing one handed catch. Beckham Jr. has already reached superstar status as evidenced by the fans voting for him to grace the Madden 16 cover. While Beckham Jr. will have to dodge the peril of the dreaded “Madden Curse” he’s probably thinking, bring it on. After all it doesn’t seem like anybody or anything can catch the Giants superstar wide receiver.
