2. Tony Romo
I know Giants fans aren’t going to want to hear this, but Tony Romo is an Aaron Rodgers-like talent. Injuries to his back have definitely effected his play, no question, but when he’s at his best he’s almost unstoppable.
His ability to move in and out of the pocket to make plays puts him in elite class with very few others. We all know the perception of Romo and his inability to come through in big games. Blah, blah, blah. The truth is that he’s never recorded a passer rating under 90 in any season, couple that with a career completion percentage of %65 and you have a hall of fame caliber player.
I know many fans hate on his lack of postseason success, but he’s been the Band-Aid on what for a while has been a lame-duck franchise. 2014, showed a changed franchise with the league’s best offensive line, and the results led to a 12 win season and a division title.
The Romo vs Manning rivalry has favored Eli heavily, considering the two biggest games in the rivalry happened to send the Giants to the playoffs in 2011, and to the NFC Championship game in 2007. From what we saw last year though, Romo handled the Giants extremely well. In both games, Romo posted a passer rating of both 135.7 and 143.4. The Giants and Cowboys play in weeks 1 and 7, and as always should be a great watch.
