4. Steve Owen (1927-1933)

Steve Owen played both offensive line and defensive line for the Giants. He also won two titles as a head coach. He won one as a player. Owen was a dominant linemen in the Giants 1927 title team. He was teammates with Cal Hubbard and they dominated the league on way to a championship title.

Owen agreed to be the Giants head coach without even signing a contract. Owen was a great coach and player on Giants championship teams. Owen was extremely close with the Mara family and his career continued for many years as a a coach. Owen believed in the true fundamentals and was a great defensive coach.

Owen coached the Giants for 23 years. He took the Giants to the first eight of 14 championship games in the league. He had 155 victories and didn’t leave the team until 1953. Owen was a Giant for almost 30 years if you include his playing and coaching career totals.
