New York Giants: 3 Reasons To Not Sign Evan Mathis

Like most Giants fans, I was pretty excited to watch Chip Kelly & Co. further dismantle the Eagles’ roster when they released Evan Mathis. And, probably like most Giants fans, naturally, my next thought was: why not sign him? New York needs an infusion of talent along their offensive line.

What hat better way to stick it to a division rival than snatching up one of their former All-Pros? Good idea, right? Right! Of course! Signing Mathis almost makes too much sense.

Well… at least it does on paper. In real life though… not really that simple. Signing Mathis could be highly rewarding, sure, but it carries its fair share of risks as well. So much risk, that I think handing the All-Pro guard the deal he’s looking for would be imprudent and rash.
