3. Young Talent On Defense:
Jonathan Hankins, Kerry Wynn, DaMontre Moore, Owa Odighizuwa, Devon Kennard, Landon Collins, Mykelle Thompson, and Cooper Taylor will all contribute to this young and fast defense. Hankins has been a stud for a couple of years now. Kerry Wynn reminds me of Justin Tuck to a ‘T’, he played like a rock on the inside of the line against the run and showed excellent ability to rush the passer. Moore has flashed his ability to get around the edge in quite a hurry. Odighizuwa looks like a steal in the 3rd round, he is noted for his pass rushing but everything I have read from former coaches and teammates says he is even better against the run. Kennard played outstanding last year, he’s a tackling machine. Landon Collins has some big shoes to fill but I see an all around safety in him. I’m not buying into “he can only play in the box”. He was used more of a box guy with Alabama due to the style of offenses they were playing, not due to his abilities. Thompson reminds me of Michael Johnson, thinner guy who can cover alot of ground and is a strong tackler, though Thompson is a lot faster than Johnson was. And finally Cooper Taylor, last year before he got injured I remember watching the pre-season games and he was all over the field. Particularly around the football. He has speed and great size and players who consistently put themselves around the football position themselves to make plays. I’m not saying he’s going to the Pro Bowl but I think he is going to have a very strong season as well.
