Talking Matchups:
CS: What Eagles players have matchup advantages against the Giants?
AB: Ironically, I’ve grown up around a family full of Giants fans. So I probably know more about them than I actually should. That being said, I think the Giants offensive line will still be a major concern.
I personally wasn’t a fan of Ereck Flowers before the draft and I believe he’ll struggle to play left tackle to start the season. Andrus Peat was a bit more ready to start from day one, even at right tackle if Will Beatty was healthy. So the Eagles pass rush could have some success against the Giants again in 2015 like they did in their first match-up this past season. Specifically their outside linebacker duo, Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham.
CS: What Eagles players have matchup problems against the Giants?
AB: The Giants cornerback duo of Prince Amukamara and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is a bit concerning for the Eagles. They have young, relatively inexperienced wide receivers that could have trouble against the Giants outside cornerbacks. So watching Nelson Agholor, Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff work against those cornerbacks could be interesting.
On the other side of the ball, the Giants addition of running back Shane Vareen was a great signing. I know plenty of Giants fans and they seemed to be unphased by the move but I think it’ll pay huge dividends. Vareen could cause some problems against the Giants by possibly forcing their outside linebackers, especially Brandon Graham, to cover him coming out of the backfield.
