2. Will Ereck Flowers Be Successful At Left Tackle?

I think it is imperative that we temper our expectations on the young Ereck Flowers. Flowers was drafted with the ninth overall pick. He was originally supposed to boost the running game by being a dominant right tackle. Now he is asked to do it all, being the left tackle and protecting Manning’s blind side. While the job is crucial to the Giants success this season it is important to remember that we are talking about a rookie.

Offensive linemen are such gamble in the draft. When the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Eric Fisher with the first pick, they expected to get a more ready left tackle. When the Dallas Cowboys drafted Tyron Smith they got exactly what they were looking for. Most of the time though tackles fall somewhere in-between an Eric Fisher and a Tyron Smith. All the Giants need from Flowers in his rookie season is adequate.

The Giants running game should be quite behooved by running behind the massive Flowers. Expect some ups and downs this season for Flowers. Anything above adequate performance from Flowers is just gravy.
