Brandon Spikes – LB, 27-years-old
Legal issues have kept Spikes out of a job this offseason, but he could really be a nice fit for the Giants should something happen to their linebackers, specifically Beason. If Beason goes down–a decent possibility given his injury history–they’ll need someone to man the middle. Spikes could be that guy.
He doesn’t offer nearly as much as Beason does in coverage, but he’s a good run stopper and the Giants do need someone to help against the run. If Beason goes down, the defense is in trouble regardless of who the Giants sign, but Spikes is a guy who could soften that blow.
The important thing to remember is that Spikes can get the job done on the field. While he is a little limited with his athleticism, Spikes is a good run stuffing option to consider.
