5 Reasons Eli Manning can be the NFL MVP in 2015
By Jesse Connor
Odell Beckham Jr.
This kid is a freak athlete. In 2014 he won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award…..while missing 1/4 of the season. He caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those numbers are outstanding for any player at any level of the sport. Now factor in the fact that he was the only real threat on offense last year due to Victor Cruz’s injury and the inconsistency of Rueben Randle.
Now Beckham will draw many double teams this year due to his speed, after the catch ability, and his ability to catch footballs with just a few fingers. When he is double teamed it will vastly open up the offense. That will mean either Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, Larry Donnell or James Jones will be open. He is going to make the other receivers better just by being on the field.
His presence will also cause safeties to cheat to his side. By doing this they will stay out of the box, and effectively open up the run game. IF the run game comes back to life the Giants attack will be scary and Manning can use play action to pause the defense for an extra second.
Not to mention Beckham’s ability to catch most anything remotely close to him. Eli has a real gem in this young receiver.
