The Offensive Line

The offensive line has been the pitfall of this football team for the last 2 dreadful seasons. The Giants and their new look offensive line will get their first chance at some live action tonight against a very good Bengals defensive front. If they can set a tone against the Bengals starters and establish a respectable run game then that will be a big win for the G-men.

It is imperative that the line can hold their own and establish running lanes this season. The passing attack has the potential to put up a ton of points and the run game must be there to support it, in order to keep the Giants away from a one dimensional offense. Rookie Ereck Flowers will get his first action as a pro. Justin Pugh and Weston Richburg are starting in different positions from last season and must adapt quickly. Richburg was a center in college so the transition should be a simple one, while Pugh, who has been the Giants right tackle since he was drafted  slides to the inside where many believe he is better suited. Geoff Schwartz must remain healthy throughout the season and tonight is his first test. The right tackle position is up for grabs as we will see Marshall Newhouse, Brandon Mosley, Bobby Hart, John Jerry, and Sean Donnelly try to claim that position as well as fight for a roster spot.
