The New Defense

I’m excited for this unit. Even without Jason Pierre-Paul I expect the Giants to generate a serious pass rush again. They have a versatile combination of run stuffers, pass rushers, and hybrid guys to keep the pressure on the offense all day. Spagnuolo typically rotates his lineman to both keep them fresh and best use their skills.

This defense should be much more aggressive the Perry Fewell’s unit. They have a good set of cornerbacks in Prince Amukamara, Dominiques Rodgers-Cromartie, and Trumaine McBride. Those guys must really step it up to cover for the inexperienced safeties patrolling the back end.

The return of Jon Beason should be a boost, as should the addition of J.T. Thomas. Devon Kennard should continue developing on top of the very good player he already is. Jameel McClain and Mark Herzlich are good depth pieces that both tackle very well.
