Defensive Line
The defensive line looks to be strong with depth and versatility this season, even without Jason Pierre Paul. What will be left in Pierre-Paul’s absence that has gone a bit overlooked is his run defense. The addition of a veteran run stuffer like Tommy Kelly or Red Bryant would definitely help the Giants stop the run.
Kelly started 13 games for a stingy Arizona Cardinal defense in 2014. He has played both defensive tackle in a 4-3 defense as well as a 3-4 defensive end and nose tackle. Kelly is a run stuffer as he just simply eats up space and sometimes multiple blockers in the middle of the field. Kelly has 478 tackles and 8 sacks for his career. He would be an instant upgrade over Markus Kuhn, Jay Bromley, and Kenrick Ellis.
Red Bryant would fit the same mold as Kelly. A big run stuffing / space eating tackle who would upgrade the defensive line. Bryant has missed only 1 game since the start of the 2011 season and has started 63 games in that span. He anchored down the Seattle Seahawk defensive line in their Super Bowl run in 2013. Again this is a guy who can improve the depth chart and teach the younger players the ins and outs of pro football.
