2. The offensive line needs to be addressed

It was a rough Saturday night for Justin Pugh who the Giants moved from right tackle to left guard. In the first quarter of the Giants game against the Jets he had back to back negative plays. On the first play he was flagged for illegal hands to the face. On the second play Pugh got beaten severely and Manning got lit up by a defensive lineman. It was just another indicator that the Giants offensive line is a problem that still needs to be addressed.

The Giants still don’t know what they want to do at the right tackle position, which tells you everything you need to know about the newly acquired Marshall Newhouse. The Giants are still toying with the idea of having Geoff Schwartz play right tackle. The one positive for the Giants is that Ereck Flowers appears to be the real deal at the left tackle position. He hasn’t had a perfect showing but he is the most encouraging member of the Giants offensive line.

The Giants probably would be wise to make a move for a quality offensive lineman. The team just doesn’t have a full group of five men that it can feel comfortable with protecting Eli Manning and setting up running lanes. Jerry Reese declared that the offensive line was his top priority this offseason, which is scary because it is still a mess.
