DT – Phil Taylor

The Cleveland Browns released the 4 year veteran on Tuesday. Taylor missed 11 games last season due to a knee injury, he has played in only 44 games since being drafted in 2011. His checkered injury history is a red flag but I’d give him a shot. He is a space consuming defensive tackle that at the very least will eat blockers. He has the ability to penetrate and get after the quarterback as well, with 7 career sacks at a position that does not generally create a whole lot of sacks.

Any support the Giants can find to stop the run should be considered. Taylor does not have to be an every down player, his presence in a defensive tackle rotation along with Cullen Jenkins, Jonathan Hankins, and Kenrick Ellis would be quite formidable.
