Running Back: C+

1. Rashad Jennings

2. Shane Vereen

3. Andre Williams

4. Orleans Darkwa

Fullback: Nikita Whitlock

The Giants don’t have one running back that I would call a workhorse. Rashad Jennings is the most accomplished rusher and he has never had a 1,000 yard season. Vereen is a very complementary piece to the offense because of his versatility in the passing game.

It is a little surprising to me that the Giants kept four running backs. It is either because the injury history of Jennings or because the Giants don’t have a ton of confidence in any of their running backs individually. Undoubtedly the Giants will employ a running back by committee mindset.

The Giants keeping Darkwa on the roster is telling. They must expect big play capability from the young running back. Why else would they keep him in a crowded room of running backs? It was surprising to see Whitlock beat out Hynoski but it shows that the Giants are willing to try something new.
