Hell Yea. Its football season.
The Giants open the season against the defending NFC East Champion Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in Dallas. The Giants look to redeem themselves and open the season with a victory over their division rival,as the Cowboys have swept the Giants in the past two seasons and have defeated them in 5 of the last 6 contests.
The Giants recently re-signed franchise quarterback Eli Manning who will lead the Giants offense against a lackluster Dallas defense. The Giants need to take advantage of the Cowboys, especially through the air.
The Giants offensive line needs to come together and this may be a great game for them to figure something out. Dallas doesn’t exactly get after the quarterback as they only had 27 sacks as a team in 2014, which ranked 28th in the league. If the line can give the quarterback time to throw it will be a long day for the Cowboys.
The Giants offense has to be on the field to score though and that will come down to the Giants defensive line. They have to contain Dallas’ run game. If they don’t Dallas will dictate the game and make this one hard to win. The Giants need to control their blockers, and do their best to eat up space in the trenches. Defensive tackle play will be key. The defensive ends must contain the run. If Dallas’ running backs start to get to the outside the field will open up for quarterback Tony Romo.
There is a lot of concern around the Giants safey unit. I think they’ll be just fine. The Giants finished 4th in the league with 47 sacks last season, a stat which goes wildly overshadowed. If they can generate a pass rush it will force Romo to get the ball out of his hands quicker and it will limit the amount of plays that can develop down the field.
These are just some keys for the Giants to be victorious in the season opener. Lets look at those and a few more keys to Giants victory.
