New York Giants: Team Found A Way To Lose
There is nothing nice to say about the New York Giants right now. Don’t get me wrong the game against the Atlanta Falcons was great entertainment. The Giants have begun the season 0-2, by losing games they should have won. The Giants were up 23-20 late in the fourth quarter. They lost 27-23.
What it boils down to is finishing the game. The Giants once again built a lead and were in a position to end the game with the offense. The Giants failed to run out the clock.
They horribly mismanaged the clock on both sides of the football. For instance when the Falcons completed a deep bomb to Julio Jones down to the doorsteps of the end zone. The Falcons were originally credited with the touchdown but the play was reversed. The clock kept rolling but Tom Coughlin did not call the time out.
Or then there was the delay of game on a critical third down. Clock management was an embarrassment of epic proportions. The offensive line worries reared their ugly head when Ereck Flowers went down with an ankle injury. Bad pass protection led to a game changing Manning fumble. The Giants were up 20-10 at the moment of that horrible miscue.
The Giants did everything they could to lose this game. On a day when the offense found its groove and Odell Beckham Jr. put on an absolute show the Giants ended up with a frustrating loss. On a day when the pass rush was exceptional the Giants found a way to lose.
And that, is the story of the game. The Giants really found a way to lose a game they had no business losing.
