The NFC East went from being a “beast” to the “least” in a matter of two weeks. The historically strong division has flopped. The New York Giants have a sad 0-2 record that could have very easily been 2-0. Bone headed mistakes and turnovers have plagued the Giants for the second year in a row. It’s the same old story with a new Giants’ team. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, so long as the Giants pull off a win this Thursday night.
It’s fair to say that the Chip Kelly experiment was a total failure. Yes, It’s only week two, but we haven’t seen any signs of life from the Philadelphia Eagles at all. Sam Bradford is a shell of himself, he’s been very streaky these past two games. Kelly has a star-studded offense as has failed to produce anything. Bradford is more than capable of getting his weapons the ball and just hasn’t done it.
The Eagles’ offense is sad compared to what they were last year. DeMarco Murray has proven that he is just a product of the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line. He has combined for 11 yards and one touchdown in two games where he definitely should have ground out chunks of yardage. He’s probably smiling right now because the Cowboys aren’t so happy either.
Tony Romo fractured his collarbone when the Cowboys faced the Eagles this past Sunday. He’s going to be out for at least eight to twelve weeks. The same goes for Dez Bryant who is going to be out for almost the same amount of time, if not more. The Cowboys arguably lost two of their best players in a matter of two weeks.
The Washington Redskins don’t look too awful and the Giants shouldn’t take them lightly. They just knocked off the St. Louis Rams who beat the 2013 Super Bowl champions. The Redskins are by far the worst team in the division talent wise and the Giants have another easy winnable game this Thursday.
This is the Giants’ division for the taking. As of this moment, they are the most capable team of getting some wins and taking the division lead. A Brandon Weeden led Cowboys won’t get that far. Of course, this all goes away if the Giants don’t win in week three. Losing another divisional game and going 0-3 very well could bury the Giants for the rest of the year.
With the Eagles at 0-2 and the Redskins at 1-1 the Giants margin for error is starting to get really small. The Giants can get red hot out of nowhere, so fans just need to hope that starts this Thursday.
Have hope Giants’ nation, we all know what happened the last time the Giants went 0-2 and played the AFC East in 2007. Ironically that same year they faced the Redskins in week three to claim their first win. Let’s see what the Giants can make of it in 2015.
