The heat is on for Tom Coughlin

I am forever a Tom Coughlin defender. I think he is a terrific coach. I do not believe he’s ever “lost” his team as many claim because they’ve played so hard for him for years. I do no think this team’s performance through the first two games is his fault. I actually think the Giants are playing at a higher level than they probably should on paper because of him. It always feels like he doesn’t have control of his team. It felt that way in 2006, 2013, 2014… but they always played hard for him.

However, in the NFL, you need results, and the cry for change in New York is getting louder because the results haven’t been there in a few years and this team looks headed in the wrong direction. Should the Giants fall out of playoff contention early… I still think management would let the two-time Super Bowl winning coach finish out the rest of the season–but I think we’ll hear talk that he will not be retained. And maybe a few Bill Cowher cries as well…

It’s starting to look more and more like this might be it for the future Hall-of-Famer.
