Tyrod Taylor vs. The Giants Defensive Line

Taylor’s receiving some much-deserved high praise after last Sunday’s win over Miami. Truly one of the best stories in the NFL to kickoff the young season, the former backup’s 7:3 TD:INT ratio is pretty impressive, even more is his 74.4% completion rating. And he’s carved up some pretty decent secondaries.

However, I’m not completely sold. Not yet at least…

The Dolphins’ and Colts’ defenses are highlighted by two top corners, but at times a non-existent pass rush—similar to the Giants. Taylor had some time to throw against those two opponents. But against the Patriots, who’ve posted a league-leading 13 sacks this year, he threw three interceptions and fumbled twice.

Do I expect the Giants’ pass rush to all of the sudden come alive in Week 4? Well, not really. But should Steve Spagnuolo pull out a few blitzes that Buffalo’s front hasn’t seen, Taylor could find himself in a little trouble on Sunday.

The Giants need to see if Taylor can handle the heat. Of course, they’ll have to generate that heat to make it work.
