Percy Harvin vs. The Giants Corners
I’m not sure exactly who will guard Percy this Sunday. I’d assume Rodgers-Cromartie, especially because he has experience playing in the slot—where the Giants may see a lot of Harvin this week—but it’s not entirely clear because Harvin will be all over the field.
That said, he’s the player the secondary needs to keep an eye on. Likely no LeSean McCoy, no Sammy Watkins, and Harvin becomes far and away the best playmaker on Buffalo’s offense. He’s generally not the type of receiver that would run a deep route across the middle of the field, so I expect the corners to pay more attention to him on the outside with the safeties watching him underneath.
This goes back to the point with Tyrod Taylor. How will he handle losing two of his biggest playmakers on offense? And how will the Giants force the inexperienced vet into that position? It’s going to come down to guarding the Bills’ shiftiest offensive weapon, and if they neutralize him, they could end up neutralizing the entire offense.
