1. Pass Rush

The Giants aren’t going to fix their defensive woes until they can get pressure on the quarterback. The Giants have just seven sacks this season which is a pretty low number. The Giants have always had good pass rush, even in years when the defense wasn’t good all around. The Giants desperately need to get back to pass rushing, which was the main ingredient in Tom Coughlin’s Super Bowl wins.

Now not having Jason Pierre-Paul hurts. Not having the best secondary in the world hurts. But these are two problems that aren’t changing and the Giants have to be able to adapt. Steve Spagnuolo is being fairly aggressive considering his defense is getting gashed in the air. That is one reason the run defense has been so good. But despite being stout against the run, it isn’t translating to pressure on quarterbacks.

At the end of the day players have to play. The Giants have talent and they have to start showing it. Where is Damontre Moore? Where is the Johnathan Hankins that got 7 sacks as an interior defensive lineman? Where is Owamagbe Odighizuwa and Kerry Wynn? Because these players just aren’t providing the impact the Giants were hoping for in the pass rushing department.
