Landon Collins vs. Jason Witten
Let’s assume Dez Bryant doesn’t play this week. He’s coming off a tough injury
and is practicing, but the jury’s still out as to if/when he’ll take the field.
In that case, the Giants have to account for Terrence Williams as Dallas’ deep threat, Cole Beasley in the slot, and three backs out of the backfield. And Jason Witten, which will likely be the job of the safeties to cover.
We saw Collins struggle against Witten in Week 1. Of course, that was Collins’ first NFL game, so I certainly cut him a little slack there. But this time around, the Giants can’t afford to let Witten burn them like he’s done so many times over the years. Limiting him to 5-6 catches for 70-80 yards is a success in my book, and Collins is capable of doing it. This Sunday without Tony Romo, without Dez Bryant, and the Giants in need of a win, Collins needs to win this matchup.
