The New York Giants are 4-3 going into their clash with the New Orleans Saints. Each game has shed some light on who the Giants really are this season. Here are some quick hits on the Giants season so far:
What can We Expect From Jason Pierre-Paul?

I don’t know how much the Giants can really expect from Pierre-Paul. Being in shape and being in football strength are completely different things. Pierre-Paul has undoubtedly lost some strength and he will have to learn to play with his finger situation.
The Giants pass rush can’t be any worse with Pierre-Paul than it is without him. The Giants have generated next to no pass rush this season. Pierre-Paul is still a big and explosive athlete. Once he gets back into it, he should be able to contribute. The question will be, how much can he contribute and when can he start to make an impact?
What Should We Make Of Orleans Darkwa’s Breakout Performance?

Orleans Darkwa had arguably the Giants most impressive offensive performance against the Dallas Cowboys. It was nice to see Darkwa get the chance to shine; he certainly took advantage of his touches. He had 8 rushes for 48 yards and a touchdown.
It is important not to overreact. Darkwa has such a small sample of work that it is hard to evaluate what we can expect from him. It seems likely that he has earned an increased role in the offense. The Giants rushing attack has been lackluster for most of this season. If Darkwa can ignite it, than he should get the rock. For now let’s not overreact and wait to see what happens.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Is Stepping Up Big

If you told me that Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was going to be the Giants biggest defensive star this season, I’m not sure I would have believed you. Just when it seemed like Rodgers-Cromartie was a solid player whose best days were behind him, he stepped up his game.
He has two interceptions and two forced fumbles this season. He has scored two defensive touchdowns this season. The most impressive aspect of his performance is that the Giants have been without Prince Amukamara for the past two games. Rodgers-Cromartie is the veteran leader that the Giants can depend on.
The Giants have 11 interceptions this season which ties for second best in the NFL. They have given up a ton of yards but they have been very opportunistic.
