Manning Matches Brees… Almost
Manning had an amazing game as well. Manning only had 11 incompletions in his 350 yards and 6 touchdown performance. Think about that stat for a second. Brees and Manning threw the football for a total of 91 times and there were only 21 incomplete passes in the game. This is a shootout for the ages and Manning certainly did his part trying to keep up with the Saints.
Manning put the entire Giants team on his back. The defense did nothing. The running game wasn’t incredibly productive. It was all up to Manning to make this a competitive game. One mistake would have given the Saints a chance to put the Giants away. That is how hard it was to keep up with the Saints. Manning delivered a near flawless effort and in doing so he gave the Giants a chance to win.
The Giants outscored the Saints 21-10 in the fourth quarter and still lost the game. The Saints scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters. Manning almost matched the Saints impressive gunslinger but it isn’t his fault he didn’t get the ball last.
