2012 New York Giants
Record: 9-7-0, Finished 2nd in NFC East
Scored 429 points (26.8/g), 6th of 32 in the NFL. Allowed 344 points (21.5/g), 12th
The 2-point loss to the Eagles in Philly Week 4, the post-Sandy 4th quarter collapse against the Steelers in Week 9, the Monday night loss to RG3’s ‘Skins by 1 point in Week 13. If those three losses are wins, the Giants would’ve been 12-4, won the NFC East and would’ve secured the #2 seed and a first-round bye. They would’ve hosted the 49ers in a divisional round game. Eli, Cruz, and JPP all made the Pro Bowl roster.
1951 New York Giants
Record: 9-2-1, Finished 2nd in NFL American Division
Scored 254 points (21.2/g), 6th of 12 in the NFL. Allowed 161 points (13.4/g), 2nd
An opening week tie with the Steelers and another sweep by the Browns (the first loss by just 1 point) prevented the G-Men from a division title and the NFL Championship. Led by Pro Bowlers Emlen Tunnell, Eddie Price, Otto Schnellbacher, and Tex Coulter.
Honorable Mentions to the 1954, 1955, and 1957 Giants teams who just couldn’t figure out the dynasty that was the Cleveland Browns.
