3. Sheldon Day, DT (Notre Dame Fighting Irish)

This one was tough. I’ve gone back and forth on whether the Giants should target Sheldon Day or Mississippi State junior Chris Jones. Jones is bigger at 6 feet 5 inches and 300 pounds to Sheldon’s 6 feet 2 inches, 285 pounds. I’m a big fan of defensive linemen being able to obstruct the quarterback’s view and knocking down balls, but then again who wouldn’t want a quick tackle who can shoot the A or gap and sack the quarterback a la Warren Sapp?

From WalterFootball:

"“Day had 45 tackles, 15.5 for a loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles and four passes batted in 2015. He was a difference-maker and very disruptive at the point of attack. He has good quickness of the snap with natural pad level.”"

Disruptive presence, natural strength and athleticism. All qualities that can be developed even more at the next level.
ALTERNATE PICKS: Jarran Reed (Alabama Crimson Tide), Chris Jones (Mississippi State Bulldogs), Anthony Zettel (Penn State Nittany Lions)
