2016 Cap Hit: $15,131,250

Likeliness Grade for Trade / Cut: B+

The Steelers’ success this past season is largely due in part to the play of the linebackers. It’s been reported that Timmons has an “unshakable bond” with head coach Mike Tomlin. But, his pass coverage has grown spotty, his toe injury lingered, and is now on a downward trajectory according to Steelers Depot. Despite the noted decrease, Timmons remains an Iron Man, having not missed a start since 2010. In that time, he’s averaged double digits in “Approximate Value” according to PFR. Pittsburgh has the 6th least amount of space under the salary cap at around $7 – $8 million. With the emergence of Ryan Shazier taking over play-calling, it could be Timmons Time in East Rutherford.
