While the New York Giants have holes to fill on defense, after Odell Beckham Jr., the depth at wide receiver needs to be addressed prior to the 2016 season. Rueben Randle is likely out come March. Victor Cruz has missed the last 26 games. He will need to restructure his contract to stay with the Giants and his health is far from a guarantee.

So, wide receiver is a need and one of the most-skilled WRs in the NFL may become available. Josh Gordon needs to be reinstated by the NFL and then would be under contract with the Cleveland Browns. Despite his talent, it is unknown whether or not the Hue Jackson-led Browns are interested in keeping him.

Gordon is only 24 and made the Pro Bowl in 2013 with 9 touchdowns and a league-leading 1,646 yards receiving. But he just can’t stay out of trouble. He was suspended for 2 games in 2013, 10 games in 2014 and the entire 2015 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

So would the Giants have any interest in Gordon and the baggage that comes with him? According to Ed Valentine of Big Blue View, no. “Reese and the Giants always do their due diligence on every player, but I’d say there is roughly a zero percent chance Gordon would be a Giant.”

It’s a long shot, but Gordon is a rare talent and has expressed a desire, via Twitter, to play alongside OBJ. The Giants will be looking at plenty of free agent wide receivers, but is Gordon out of the question because of his blemished past?
