3. Adam Henry (Wide Receivers)

Viewers learned from the Giants’ Monday Night Football thrilling win over the Miami Dolphins that a Beckham Jr. tapped into his LSU roots is his greatest version of OBJ.

His jovially undying friendship with Dolphins receiver and LSU roommate Jarvis Landry is only outdone by the competitive firepower it stirs:

  • Beckham Jr. = 7 REC, 166 YDS, 2 TDS on Dec. 15
  • Landry = 11 REC, 99 YDS, 0 TDS…plain and simple

Offseason training sessions at his alma mater and subsequent in-season motivations visibly calm and focus New York’s superstar wideout, which is the primary reason for Henry’s recruitment.

Of course, Henry is qualified even without the OBJ pull and comes with NFL dues. He unseats Sean Ryan after guiding the progression of Quinton Patton last season in San Francisco among helping manage the veteran declines of Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith.

With Manning’s stature stabilized unlike Colin Kaepernick, Henry can solely fixate on maximizing the contributions of Rueben Randle (should the other LSU alum return) and Dwayne Harris while easing Victor Cruz back into the equation. Still, the major score here is OBJ’s mentorship reunion.

McAdoo addressed the mishandling of Beckham Jr.’s behavioral mishaps in 2015—most notably against Josh Norman and Carolina less than a week removed from the Miami contest—in his initial presser. To immediately follow up on his words with action is one of the more promising signs originating from New York’s new era.

Henry will provide that nurturing voice of restraint in OBJ’s ear on Sundays while already garnering respect for the pair to accept accountability for both the pros and cons. The Giants’ strength is now padded with more strength, wisely allowing a flawed defense time to catch up.
