Zach Brown – OLB, Tennessee Titans

Age: 26

Brown’s first two seasons with the Titans were promising as he accumulated 9.5 sacks and more than 160 combined tackles. Then he only played one game in 2014 before starting five of 16 contests last season. NFL.com ranks Zach as the 86th top free agent, noting “he has insane pursuit skills but was never fully trusted in Tennessee.”

Just nine months ago, Brown was considered a “secret superstar” by Pro Football Focus and one of the six best “bargains” in free agency. In 2015, Brown was on the field for almost 500 snaps on defense, earning a grade of 69.9 from PFF. Spotrac gave him a true value rating of 88.22, which was 8th highest among linebackers last season, however he only was on the field for less than 50% of his unit’s snaps.

CONCLUSION:

If the Giants had all seven picks, maybe I’d push for making an offer for Ryan Schraeder, but with only six picks and a need to use almost all of them on defense, the G-Men should look elsewhere. Apparently, the team has more interest in Russell Okung and not Beachum, which makes me think Kelvin’s ACL tear is worse than originally thought. While Trevin Wade played well in the slot, adding Boykin or Moore would make the dime package one of the best in the league. One or two more signings could really give the Giants tremendous depth should the injury bug hit again.
