After Jerry Reese all but emptied his pockets in the first days of free agency, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah has the New York Giants selecting Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell in his latest mock draft.

Treadwell is the consensus top receiver in the draft and receiver All-SEC and All-American honors. While at 6’2”, 210 pounds, he has an NFL frame but not overwhelming size. He has strong hands and is a natural ball catcher, but he’s not yet an accomplished route runner. Scouts across the board say he has a nasty streak and he’s been compared to Dez Bryant.

Wide receiver is a need for the Giants as Rueben Randle is about to test the market in free agency. Giants fans want Randle gone after his inconsistent effort and production last season. Playing alongside Odell Beckham Jr. should be a gift for a receiver, but he failed to capitalize on countless single-coverage situations. Randle’s first free agent visit will be with the Los Angeles Rams, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Reese can no longer count on Victor Cruz. Cruz reworked his contract to stay with the Giants. According to the New York Daily News, his new deal guarantees him only $3 million, but he could make up to $8 million if he reaches all of his incentives. Cruz hasn’t played an NFL game since October 2014 and will turn 30 this upcoming season.

The next receiver up would be Dwayne Harris, who was signed primarily as a return specialist, so wide receiver is a need. Treadwell could be an excellent complement to OBJ in the starting lineup, but should Reese look to wide receiver with that pick in the draft?

Olivier Vernon and Damon Harrison helped to shore up the defensive line. Janoris Jenkins answered a question at cornerback. But does the signing of Keenan Robinson may mean that Reese is content at middle linebacker? The Giants haven’t signed a linebacker in the first round since Carl Banks in 1984, but there are a few options that could start immediately, namely Myles Jack.

If available, should Reese select Treadwell with the tenth pick or look elsewhere?
